I have been working really hard on life.
Sometimes you need to focus a little bit on life itself. Some of the fun things that I have worked on since I last wrote on here.
Well, as you can see the latest thing I have worked on is updating my website. I really hope you like it. Thanks Anita at i4Design. Its looking great. So slick.
Other than this I have taken a bit of a break from Art for a while (more or less) while I sort out life. I moved to Nelson briefly and basically turned my life on its head. This was a great time, and a time where I was able to re-evaluate what I was doing, and where I was going in life, and what I wanted in my life, what I wanted to achieve in life. And now I am back on track and focussed.
I am back in Wellington again, and I am working for an insurance company (loving it – though it does take me away from my art practise….) and while I have been there I have just started studying again (distance study, and very slowly) towards a bachelor of communications management. This should help me in my art practise.
I have also been writing. I started writing my first novel, its still a long way off, but I would love to share it with you lot eventually. I’m really proud of it actually.
I have also started another blog. This is the first steps towards my Art Education website, and gallery. This is separate from my own Art practise, and I hope it can compliment my art and my work alongside other people’s art. I’m not sure I have told you of my passion and my major goal. But I intend to encourage communication through art, and to teach and encourage people who otherwise wouldn’t participate in conversations about art to start talking, and taking an interest. There are so many reasons why I believe this to be important in society, and you can read about those reasons in my wordpress blog (again this is the starting point for my major website, but little steps will get us there in the end). To make it easy for you to stay up to date on reviews, and the art conversation (and I would seriously encourage you to participate in the conversation) the wordpress site is now linked into my personal art website. Other wise you can visit it here. Please share my site, and comment, and participate in general.
I have also been doing a fair bit of running – not recently, but prior to recently. And I participated in several “fun” (read: not so fun) runs. That’s my sister in the third photo below.
I also had corrective surgery on my eyes. So I guess this has meant that I’ve taken a break from my art to let them rest. But really that is just an excuse. Check out my sexy goggles to protect my eyes while I slept.
I’ve had about a million make-overs. Changed my hair colour and length – or at least for what I’m used to. And now I’m back to letting my hair grow out and go grey. “Oh age….. *sigh*”
I saw Elton John in concert – one of my life list goals.
I welcomed a new nephew. Ashton – and I’m actually not sure I told you about my other new Nephew – Brody who is older than Ashton. (oh boy! That really is a long time between writing!) They are my sister’s boys. The baby below is little Ashton. He’s coming up a year old shortly. Very very cute!
I’ve taken my daughter to see The Wiggles, The Wizard of Oz ballet, And Disney on Ice.
And baked a heap of cakes for various things (not that I’m a particularly great baker or anything.)
I’ve celebrated a christmas.
And I’m not even sure I told you that I went on my first out of New Zealand holiday – to Rarotonga. This was for a long overdue honeymoon. We took Grace.
I have seen my brother get Married. And I have seen my best friend get married. And I spoke at both weddings – and didn’t embarrass myself too much. Both weddings were beautiful.
As you can see life has certainly been being lived. It has been hard to get to my art practise. But I do intend to get back to working hard again as soon as I can.
My next post will be about what I have been up to with my art. And I might even show you a throw back photo or two of me from my teenage years. Just for fun.
Talk to you again soon.
